Overview | Charleston International Airport
Charleston International Airport is the busiest and largest airport in South Carolina, and is located about 12 miles from downtown Charleston. There are 4 main areas of the airport based on the purpose it serves. The military area to the west, airline terminal to the south, the Boeing assembly areas a bit further south than that, and finally the general aviation areas on the airport's east side. It has two runs and covered just over 2000 acres of land. Averaging 290 aircraft operations a day, it's easy to see how they reached just over 3 million passengers in 2015. The airport has also gone through a few renovations to accommodate its growing amount of passengers. Departures and Arrivals are located on the same floor of the airport, with Departures on the terminal's east end, and arrivals on the west. You can also find baggage claim and ticketing on this floor, on the east and west ends of the airport. There are two main concourses, A and B that exist in the terminal. While concourse A is used only Delta Airlines, Concourse B is used by plenty of others including American Airlines, JetBlue and Canada-based Porter Airlines. In the airport's main area you can find an assortment of retail shops and food concessions including Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, DeSano Pizza Bakery, Tech One The Go, and even clothing retailer Eddie Bauer. There are also plenty of accessible restrooms, pay phones, and ATMs all over the airport.
