Overview | Harrisburg International Airport
Harrisburg International Airport currently covers 680 acres of space with one asphalt runway for landings and departures. On average there are around 195 aircraft operations per day for various uses like air taxi, general aviation, commercial flights and military flights - which was actually the airport's primary purpose up until 1963. The terminal has 12 gates that are all situated near the middle of the airfield in an almost parallel layout to the runway the flights land and depart from. The airport's layout is shaped somewhat like a plane itself, with a long main area with gates and concession stands that branch out in a downward, diagonal direction. The airport is split up into 3 concourses with 12 gates across all 3 of them. Each of these gates is associated with a particular domestic or international carrier with airlines like Delta, United and Air Canada Express flights. The gate you use once you're in the airport will depend on where you're headed and what airline you booked your flight with. On the first level of the airport, you can find amenities and services like ticketing, baggage claim and information desks in case you need some help to find what you're looking for. You then go up to the airport's second level to find all 12 gates in one of the 3 concourses. In addition to the gates, you'll find accessible bathrooms, ATMs and food and retail locations such as Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Hudson News, Subway and Auntie Anne's.
