Syracuse Hancock International Airport is a region airport that covers 2,000 acres of space and has two runways to accommodate the departures and arrivals into the terminal. On average, there are just under 200 aircraft operations per day, making it one of the busiest in the region. SYR is sometimes referred to Central New York's gateway to the world, with dozens of direct flights that connect you with destination all across the country's East Coast as well as the Midwest. The airport is split into two levels, an upper level and a lower level. On the airport's lower level, you'll find the baggage claim area, ticketing counters as well as accessible restrooms, a gift shop and counters for the various rental car companies that can be found directly in the terminal. In the main area of the lower level, you can even find a small gallery showcasing art from local artists. The airport's upper level has all of departure gates, split between two concourses: A and B. In the central part of the upper level, you can find food, drink and retail location for your convenience such as Jamba Juice, Dunkin Donuts, Johnny Rockets and Market Express. - The upper level of the airport is split into two concourses with 20 gates shared between them. Each gate is associated with a particular airline carrier, and the gate you head to will be determined by where your flight was booked. Concourse A has gates numbered in a range from 1-15 ; though not all numbers are used. Here, you can find departure gates for Air Canada Express, Allegiant Air, American Airlines and American Airlines. In Concourse B, the gates are numbered much more simply from 20-27. Here, you'll find the gates for Delta Airlines, Delta Connections and United Express flights.
