Syracuse Hancock International Airport is a region airport that covers 2,000 acres of space and has two runways to accommodate the departures and arrivals into the terminal. On average, there are just under 200 aircraft operations per day, making it one of the busiest in the region. SYR is sometimes referred to Central New York's gateway to the world, with dozens of direct flights that connect you with destination all across the country's East Coast as well as the Midwest. The airport is split into two levels, an upper level and a lower level. On the airport's lower level, you'll find the baggage claim area, ticketing counters as well as accessible restrooms, a gift shop and counters for the various rental car companies that can be found directly in the terminal.
